CITIZENS FOR THE CLASSICS

Founded in 1970, Keeping Latin Alive in Arlington County Schools

About CFTC

Salvete Omnes!

Our organization was founded in 1970 to SAVE the Latin language program in Arlington Public Schools.  The founders were successful. Our goals today are to support the teaching and learning of Latin in Arlington Public Schools and to increase the public awareness of the value of learning Latin.

We hold two meetings a year, usually in May and November, in Arlington.

We attend the local Saturnalia event in December, at Yorktown High School.

In August, we run a table at the Arlington County Fair to increase awareness about our organization and Latin in Arlington.

We hope you will join us as a registered member and state your agreement that Latin is a valuable part of the middle and high school curriculum.  Please see our "Be a Member" page for more information and the application.

Citizens for the Classics is a public charity designated as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service.  Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.  Our EIN is 27-25913388.
